What is the difference between a 16-bit ASN and a 32-bit ASN?

16-bit AS numbers are between 1 and 65534 and 32-bit AS numbers between 131072 and 4294967294.

What are the requirements for ASN registration?

You must have active network equipment within the RIPE NCC service area, have at least one IP block to advertise and your network must be Multihomed.

What does Multihomed mean?

You need to have 2 upstream providers in order to be eligible for ASN registration.
An upstream provider is a company that will provides Internet access to your network. The term is often used in reference to ISPs.

What documents are required?

If you are a organisation, a copy of an extract from the Commercial Trade Register or an equivalent document proving the registration of your business with the national authorities. If you are an individual, a digital copy of your ID.
